ID provided consultancy & design services for 2 products to aid the Manchester “FAB Lab” launch: an embryonic joint venture between Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and The Manufacturing Institute (MI). Involved in managing the concept & prototyping proof stages for 2 inventors invited by MI to develop & showcase the prototypes for MIT’s first UK FAB Lab and its capabilities, at its launch on 23 March 2010.

An interesting concept developed for prototyping at the Manchester Fab Lab Launch, UK’s first Fab Lab. Invented by 13 year old Munasha Maibvisira, of Mulberry Walk, Cheetham Hill, was struck by an idea after watching his aunty constantly testing the temperature of baby milk on her arm.

Take Tayeb, an 11-year-old had been pondering the universal difficulty of brushing his teeth while listening to music. “I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like music and if you combine music with a toothbrush you get this and you’ll just start brushing and you’ll really enjoy it – genius!”
